It’s a nice sunny Tuesday here at the moment, and we’ve got some great tips this week. As usual, we’re not affiliated with any of these unless we expressly say we are.

Taming Information Technology

Taming Information Technology: Lessons from Studies of System Administrators. Our reader, Angry Mountain Biker, pointed us to this fascinating book. The authors did an in-depth study of a number of different systems over a prolonged period of time and wrote their findings about system admin in a way that even your technophobic boss can understand. The result is a book of interesting situations and how they were resolved.

Monitor Active Directory Group Membership Change

Monitor Active Directory Group Membership Change is a mouthful but also an extremely useful PowerShell script. It alerts you via email about any changes made to the Active Directory groups.

The Admin Admin Podcast

No, we’re not stuttering and that’s not a typo. The Admin Admin Podcast is run by a team in the United Kingdom. It offers practical advice for IT professionals. You’ll want to sign up if you’re in the system admin game, or if you’d like to learn more about the intricacies of servers.

Servers for Hackers

Sticking to the topic of servers, Servers For Hackers is an excellent resource about server tech. You’ll learn all you need to know about server configuration, production, and development. Just click through to their Start here page and take it all in.

SwiftonSecurity

SwiftOnSecurity is an excellent feed on Twitter by the author of the sites  https://DecentSecurity.com and http://GotPhish.com. He shares some really interesting posts about keeping your computer systems safe and secure. He’s also a pretty decent writer and loves injecting some prose into his tweets. It’s always an interesting read.

Have a great week and be sure to let us know if you have a great tip to share.
