Get this in your inbox each week.
Hello IT Pro,
We just wanted to sneak in a reminder about our new subreddit at /r/ITProTuesday for those of you who haven’t subscribed yet. Be sure to stay tuned every Friday for a bonus tool.
The Lazy Administrator Tool
This tool from The Lazy Administrator is going to save you a lot of time. It automates the process of creating a new user for Office 365 and AD. Use it for a single client or for a number of clients. It’s quick, easy and even allows you to create a user for one system in particular. It’s all explained fully in the blog.
Jupiter Broadcasting
This podcast network used the successful “The Linux Action Show!” as a springboard. Choose from a range of fun and informative shows about Open Source, Linux, Privacy, Community Development, News, Politics and Security. Speel put us onto this podcast network to start off with, and we’re hooked.
Vinfrastructure
Andrea Mauro runs Vinfrastructure. It’s a great blog about the cloud, storage and virtualization. It was one of the top-voted blogs on virtualization in 2017. Mauro is an expert in virtualization and is also a seasoned sysadmin and systems architect. His area of specialization includes Windows OS and Linux. He teaches online and at a university, so you’re in good hands here.
Have a Chuckle
SonOfDadOfSam sent this one in, and it had me chortling all day.
A programmer is going to the store.
His wife says, “Get a loaf of bread — and if they have eggs, get a dozen.”
The guy comes back with 12 loaves of bread.
His wife says, “Why did you buy so much bread?”
He says, “They had eggs.”
Netwrix Account Lockout Examiner
Netwrix Account Lockout Examiner, as you might imagine, notifies you of AD account lockouts. This allows you to identify the root cause of the problem. You can then unlock the user’s account from your mobile device or the tool’s console. tGasMaskt sent in this tip, and it’s something of a lifesaver. You don’t even have to be at your desk to allow the user to regain access.
That’s another edition of IT Pro in the can. Have a great week, and let us know if you’ve got any tips you’re looking for or tips you’d like to share.
