Are you ready for another work week? As always, we’re here to make that easier for you by giving you useful resources and information. We are not affiliated to any of the brands below unless otherwise stated.

The Innovators

The book, The Innovators: How a Group of Hackers, Geniuses, and Geeks Created the Digital Revolution is going to really appeal to the geek in you. It’s a fascinating look at how the digital age has developed. For example, you might find it really interesting to learn that programming is a lot older than you think. It was a woman back in the 19th century that wrote the first programming language!

Spiceworks

To be more specific here, you should visit the  Spiceworks Free HelpDesk and Networking Monitoring software. These free resources have proven to be extremely useful to us and many others over the last few years.

OverAPI.com

Office Macro Lures

I remember watching James Veitch and his adventures in baiting email scam artists on YouTube. It always stuck with me when he said some of the scams were so outrageous that only the most gullible would fall for them. His reasoning was that such scams were designed to help narrow in on the ideal target.

Not all phishing attacks are easy to pick up on, though. You’ll see that if you read the Office Macro Lures Presentation by John Lambert. Why should you listen to what this guy has to say? He works for Microsoft as a security researcher. It’s fair to say that he’s seen some of the best and worst phishing attacks. You can also follow John on Twitter  as well if you like seeing emergent threats and nature hikes simultaneously. Thank you for the tip ReallyLongUserName01.

Do you have any tips to add? Let us know in the comments below, and have a great week!

P.S.

The Dude is a free tool. It’s an application to monitor networks that works across several different platforms. It will scan your network and map it for you. If there are issues to address, it sends you an alert.
