IT Pro Tuesday #93

Get this in your inbox each week.

Hello IT Pro,

We'd like to invite all of you to our new IT Pro Tips channel on Twitter. If you'd enjoy your tips in a quick one-a-day format, stop in and give us a follow!

But on with this week's tools...! Here are the most-interesting items that have come across our desks, laptops and phones this week. As always, EveryCloud has no known affiliation with any of these unless we explicitly state otherwise

And as always, we’re updating the full list on our website here. Enjoy.

Popular Repost: List

Awesome SysAdmin is an incredible list of resources that was originally referred by ReallyLongUserName01. This one is so good we wanted to make sure all our newer subscribers are aware of it!

A Tip

Some favorite Run box commands for workstation & server that wanderingbilby finds "especially useful when remoting into a machine where navigation is more difficult."

  •     Classic Add / Remove programs - appwiz.cpl
  •     Classic Printers - control printers
  •     Classic Network Connections - control netconnections
  •     Local User Manager - lusrmgr.msc
  •     Remote Desktop Connection - mstsc
  •     Formatted group policy results - gpresult /h C:\temp\gpresult.html

A Blog

ITProMentor is a blog on Microsoft Cloud for IT consultants. Author Alex Fields is a Microstoft MVP and Cloud expert who has been helping small businesses transition to O365 for nearly 10 years. Thanks to thefivetheory for the suggestion.

A Free Tool

vSphere Hypervisor offers built-in VM Management so you can quickly create and provision virtual machines. Allows you to allocate storage resources beyond the actual capacity of your physical storage, overcommit memory resources and perform page sharing and compression to optimize performance. mythofechelon describes it as "probably the best free hypervisor for hosting standalone (non-replicated) VMs."

Another Tip

overscaled shares a lesser-known but handy command:
quser /server:remoteservername lists all sessions on a terminal server at once

P.S. Bonus Free Tools

ISO Workshop is a Windows application for ISO image management and conversion, as well as CD/DVD/Blu-ray disc burning/copying. Its highly intuitive user interface enables you to make ISO images, extract files from disc images, create disc backups, convert and burn disc images and make exact CD/DVD/Blu-ray Disc copies. Thanks to mythofechelon for the recommendation.

NirLauncher is a package of more than 200 useful freeware utilities for Windows. Can be run from a USB flash drive or bootable CD. Includes  tools to recover lost passwords; monitor your network; view and extract cookies, cache and other information stored by your Web browser;  search files and more. "ComputerNetworkGeek likes it because it "does basically the same thing as WSCC, a good alternative. You can add sysinternals and other toolsets as well."

Have a fantastic week and as usual, let me know any comments.
